Arjun Das and Dushara Vijayana’s upcoming thriller film has just released its teaser, and it has fans on the edge of their seats. The film is directed by Vasanthabalan, who has previously directed critically acclaimed films like Veyil, Angaadi Theru, and Kaaviya Thalaivan. His film Veyil had received a National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, while the film Angaadi Theru won several awards, including the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Director. The film is set to be released on July 21, 2023. The teaser has a gripping and piercing narrative to it, demanding the absolute attention of the spectator. It has been stated that the film will explore important themes like injustice and revenge, with Arjun playing an incredibly complex role.
Arjun Das had risen to fame through his fantastic work on Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi in the role of Anbu. He had first debuted in the film Perumaan, directed by Rajesh Kannan, which the Times of India described as a confident debut on his part. He then got his big break through Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi, which propelled the talented actor into the spotlight. He managed to play an equally weighted role as a villain against Karthi. The role was so brilliantly played that Arjun received several awards, like the Zed Cine Tamil Film Awards and the South Indian International Movie Awards. Arjun has often attributed his success to Lokesh, who gave him the opportunity to be featured in his films. Audiences who are fans of their collaborative work will be excited to know that Arjun will be playing the cameo role of Anbu in Lokesh’s upcoming film Leo, featuring Thalapathy Vijay as its lead.
Dushara Vijayan is another newcomer who has brought a unique texture of talent to Tamil cinema. The young actress has starred in the critically acclaimed hit film Sarpatta Paramabarai, directed by Pa. Ranjith, playing the unforgettable role of Mariyamma, the wife of the protagonist Kabilan, played by Arya. The character of Mariyamma has been acclaimed as one of the most significant female characters in Tamil cinema, who is both spectacularly written and acted. Another one of Dushara’s memorable roles, albeit with criticisms, is the role of Rene in the Pa. Ranjith-directed art film Natchathiram Nagargiradhu. Dushara plays a strong-willed and individualistic Dalit feminist. The film deals with many important societal issues like caste, gender, class, and the world of art, but some have expressed that despite the film exploring such complex issues, it ended up coming off as immensely one-dimensional.
