One of the most eagerly awaited films of the year is the Shah Rukh Khan-starring Pan-Indian film Jawan. Indian cinema has always had a defined sense of regional enclaves, but in recent times, attributed to changing political and cultural circumstances, the term pan-Indian has risen to a greater height than it ever did in the past. This film, Jawan, is critical evidence of the once-defined border between Kollywood and Bollywood being merged. This film will be the directorial debut of Atlee, who has previously created blockbuster films such as Mersal and Bigil, both of which starred the massively popular Vijay as their lead. Atlee had near perfected the commercial formalities of Tamil cinema, so it will be incredibly interesting to see how his artistic sensibilities will apply to the northern audience. The film will star Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, and even a cameo appearance by Vijay. The film’s score has been produced by the multi-award-winning Anirudh.
Jawan had just recently released a poster of Nayanthara’s character, who will be playing the romantic lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan. This will be the actress’s debut in Hindi cinema, and it seems to be a power-packed one, as the poster shows the celebrated actress holding a gun and looking incredibly bold and intimidating. Nayanthara is an actress who has made a household name for herself in the south as ‘Lady Superstar’. Previously, Nayanthara had worked with Atlee in the award-winning film Raja Rani; her performance had even garnered her several awards, including the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Actress. Now, it is rumoured that with his introduction of Nayanthara to Bollywood, he will also be debuting another South Indian actress in his next Bollywood film. It has been stated that Atlee will be producing a remake of his 2016 hit film Theri in Bollywood. The original film starred Vijay, Samantha, and Amy Jackson, while its Bollywood remake is said to star Varun Dhawan as the lead, with Keerthy Suresh playing the role of his wife.
Keerthy Suresh is an award-winning actress who has worked predominantly in Tamil and Telugu films. Her breathtaking and monumental performance on Nag Ashwin’s semi-autobiographical film Mahanati, as the titular character of the late actress Savitri, had graced her with the prestigious title of Best Actress from the National Film Awards. This will be her debut in Bollywood, so her fans are really looking forward to seeing what this astoundingly talented young actress has in store for them.
