Vijay Sethupathi is an acclaimed Indian actor, producer, lyricist, and dialogue writer known for his work predominantly in Tamil cinema. His given name is Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi. He is addressed as “Makkal Selvan” in Kollywood industry. Before entering the film industry, Vijay Sethupathi worked as an account assistant. He developed a keen interest in theater and started his acting career with the drama troupe “Koothu-P-Pattarai.” His breakthrough in Tamil cinema came with his role in the critically acclaimed movie “Thenmerku Paruvakaatru” (2010), where he played a supporting role and received recognition for his acting prowess.

Recently, he made a voice over for Sivakarthikeyan’s “Maaveeran” film which went trending. “Maaveeran” is actor Sivakarthikeyan’s latest movie which is ruling the cinema screens currently. The movie is directed by Madonne Ashwin and stars Sivakarthikeyan, Aditi Shankar, Mysskin, Yogi Babu and many others. The film revolves around Sathya, a comic book artist, who is forced to take on Jeyakodi, a corrupt politician, when a voice he hears in his mind foretells events and puts him in precarious situations. Vijay Sethupathi gave voice over for the character, Sathya. His voice acting has garnered favourable reviews, with critics applauding both Sivakarthikeyan’s striking performance and his imperceptible presence. According to reports, Makkal Selvan denied payment for contributing his voice to “Maaveeran.” This is mainly for his good bonding with actor Sivakarthikeyan, director of the film Madonne Ashwin and producer Arun Viswa. The act shows Vijay Sethupathi’s generosity.
On other hand, Vijay Sethupathi’s different look from the teaser of ‘Jawan’ in which he plays the chief antagonist is attracting both the north and south fans. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan wanted Vijay Sethupathi’s appearance so much in the film to the extend he paid him 21 crores without any hesitation. That amount of money was the biggest ever paid for a villain at the time, which was a few months ago. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, on the other hand, reportedly received rupees 150 crores, shattering the previous record by a wide margin. Notably, there are also sources saying that it is actually 25 crores. His remuneration for both the movies are surprising.
