Suriya whose real name is Saravanan Sivakumar is a prominent and highly respected Indian actor who primarily works in the Tamil film industry. Suriya is known for his versatile acting skills and has established himself as one of the leading actors in the South Indian film industry. He comes from a family with a strong film background. His father, Sivakumar, is a well-known actor in the Tamil cinema industry, and his younger brother, Karthi, is also an actor. His wife, Jyothika is also a good actress. Suriya initially had aspirations to become a successful businessman, but his love for acting and films eventually led him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Suriya made his acting debut with the Tamil film “Nerukku Ner” in 1997. Vasanth initially offered him the lead role in his 1995 film “Aasai”, but he declined the offer due to a lack of enthusiasm in pursuing an acting career. When he was 22 years old, he made his acting debut in Vasanth’s 1997 film “Nerrukku Ner”, which was also produced by Mani Ratnam. However, it was his role in the film “Nandha” (2001) that gained him critical acclaim and recognition. He continued to impress audiences and critics with his performances in movies like “Kaakha Kaakha” (2003), “Pithamagan” (2003), and “Ghajini” (2005). The film “Ghajini” was later remade in Hindi with Aamir Khan in the lead role and achieved immense success. Suriya’s recent movies “Soorarai Pottru” (2020) and “Jai Bhim” (2021) were blockbuster hits. “Soorarai Pottru” won Suriya the National Film Award for Best Actor.
Besides his acting prowess, Suriya is also known for his philanthropic work. He is actively involved in several charitable initiatives through his Agaram Foundation, which focuses on educational support for underprivileged children. The vision of Agaram Foundation is to bring about a significant positive change in the socio-economic status of the rural society by offering quality education to the deserving individual.
The actor’s much anticipated upcoming movie is “Kanguva” which is directed by Siva and starring Suriya, Disha Patani, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley and many more. “Kanguva” is also known and promoted as “Kanguva: A Mighty Valiant Saga”. As the team is progressing with the shooting of the movie, they have announced that the first look of Suriya from the movie is scheduled to be revealed on 23rd July 2023. This date has been chosen because of the special occasion of actor Suriya’s birthday. This would double the joy and celebration of Suriya’s fans.
The “Kanguva” campaign includes a new poster portraying Suriya’s hand with multiple scars, with the caption “Each scar carries a story!” making a powerful statement sets the bar high for the film. Fans are anticipating to witness Suriya’s much-anticipated first look in “Kanguva”.
