Shankar’s Indian 2 Uses Cutting-Edge Film Technology

The 1996 hit film Indian, directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Hasan, was one of the most memorable films in Indian cinema. The film has been a phenomenal success throughout India. It also broke the record for the first ever Tamil film to gross 50 crores on the international market. It had been a film that also contributed to a resurgence of patriotism amongst Indians amid the tyranny of post-colonial Indian society. Being such an acclaimed film, it is no surprise that Shankar would want to make a second installation for it.

Shankar is known for his ostentatious filmmaking techniques and his very opulent sense of direction. He had posted how he was at Lola VFX, Los Angeles, for Indian 2, and many have speculated that he might be applying deaging technology for the film.

This will be the very first time this technology will be used in Tamil cinema. Kamal Hassan is an actor who has always been artistically innovative and dedicated; his collaboration with Shankar on this project is a symbol of that.

I am a 21st century man. I don’t believe in magic. I believe in sweat, tears, life and death.

The film will also star Kajal Agarwal, who is a beautifully celebrated actress in South India. She has previously expressed that she feels very excited and grateful for having the opportunity to work with the likes of Kamal Hassan and Shankar. The actress had previously worked on memorable films like Naan Mahan Alla, Mersal, Jilla, Vivegam, and Thupakki.

The film’s score will be produced by none other than the internationally acclaimed and renowned music composer, Anirudh Ravichandran. Sources state that a glimpse of the first musical score for the film should be released sometime soon. Anirudh has created music for some of the most important films that are coming out this year, like Rajnikanth’s Jailer, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, and Vijay’s Leo.
