Charity is a wonderfully pious act, and to strive today for the betterment of society as a whole through our own selfless effort is one of the most beautiful experiences one can have in this lifetime. This altruistic sense of purpose is what motivated the young Pranava Shanta Mohan to use his gifts in service of others. With his great effort and boundless kindness, he managed to organise a successful fundraiser to aid Hospis Malaysia.
The charity event was named The Ripple Effect 4.0, as it was the fourth installment of the successfully organised previous events. The charity movie screening of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie collectively raised RM13100, with all tickets being sold out. Some of those who bought the tickets for the film have even donated them to the underprivileged children who attended the screening.
21 children from the Shelter Home Organisation, a wonderfully heartwarming space that cares for unsupervised and vulnerable children and teenagers, and 20 members from The Malaysian Health and Welfare Organisation (Pertubuhan Kesihatan dan Kebajikan Umum Malaysia) graciously attended this heartwarming film screening. This heartwarming event took place at the TGV Cinemas, which very kindly sponsored popcorn and drinks for all the underprivileged children who attended the screening at Jaya Shopping Centre.
All the proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Hospis Malaysia, an amazing and admirable organisation that provides impeccably professional palliative care to patients who suffer life-threatening illnesses that limit their abilities. It is such a beautiful thing to know that the money collected will be going towards something that will provide better healthcare for the people of this country.
Pranava Shanta Mohan had grown up in an environment that always encouraged him to care for others and to be a responsible member of society. The young Pranava, who is currently an A-Level student at Brickfields Asia College (BAC), had the generous guidance of his older brother, Visaghan Shanta Mohan, who also has great experience in conducting his own charity events like the charity screening of The Return of Skywalker in 2019, which raised a total of RM27,500 for Hospis Malaysia.
This heartwarming and humanitarian gesture by the youth is something that always gives the masses a sense of hope for the future. It is through the selfless sharing of wealth and joy that human life can find bliss and happiness. Pranava’s selflessness and his admirable work ethic are a shining beacon of light for this wonderful charity.
