Jacquelin Kaur, a remarkable young girl from Kuala Lumpur who has achieved something truly exceptional at such a tender age. With her unwavering determination and talent, she has managed to accomplish feats that are nothing short of extraordinary.
Jacquelin who is just six years old, studying in pre school has astonished us by all set to attempt her first Malaysian Book of records for “The youngest Malaysian to scale World Highest Base Camp” which is the Everest Base Camp in Nepal at an altitude of 5364 metres. She could get this done at this early age because sports is not new venture for her. It runs in her blood as Jacquelin’s mother Melinder Kaur is a former national athlete. Notably, she is also a retired Army Lieutenant that is why Jacquelin feels responsible to carry on her mother’s pride.
The little champ will depart for Nepal on September 8, 2023. She will begin hiking the next day (9th September) and is expected to reach the World Highest Base Camp 5 days later (13th September). She will then begin her journey back down, with her walk slated to end on September 16th, 2023. She is currently undergoing training with her mother.
Jacquelin and her father have always been there to support for the mother whenever she seek to set new records. They have been the pillar of strength to Melinder Kaur. They’ve seen her attempting four national records before this one, where she go through the hardship and suffering of attempting amazing records to raise funds for impoverished children.
“Jacquelin usually accompanies me for each of my training sessions as I’m the one who look after her most of the time. So basically I train and look after her at the same time. As a mum who is active in sports, I try introducing Jacquelin to many different sports and see if she’s naturally inclined toward one. I believe kids develop their interest by watching their parents participate in them”, said Melinder.
Hence, this shows that, Melinder has been an inspiration to Jacquelin. Jacquelin has developed her interest in sports by witnessing the journey of her mother. The young kid is solidifying her position as a prodigious young talent. What sets Jacquelin apart is her strong sense of self confidence and energy. She actively cooperates during the training sessions with her mother.
“Jacquelin always tells me “mommy, I will break your 3000m steeplechase record one day”. So I told her, “in order to break my record, you need to train, focus, believe in yourself and never give up. There will be obstacles which you should take it as a challenge and fight your best.” I always wanted to give Jacquelin a good start to prove to herself that even though she’s just 6 years old, there’s no age limit when it comes to reaching the ‘peak’ of success. Its never easy to train a child mainly in fitness. It’s normal they get tired and bored fast, but what I try to do is I focus on fun activities because I believe kids are more likely to keep exercising if they’re doing an activity they enjoy. Basically, I’ll be the role model to fulfill Jacquelin’s potential. It’s best to find sports or physical activities that suit your child’s likes and abilities. Knowing Jacquelin who is very active, she definitely enjoys running, hiking and swimming .”, said Melinder Kaur.
Notably, Jacquelin is attempting this Malaysian Book of records with a sole purpose of raising fund worth RM10,000 to help the underprivileged, orphan and neglected kids in our country. That shows the generosity and genuine intention of the kid towards the welfare of the community especially kids in her age.
Jacquelin’s dedication for sure will unlock her national record attempt and bring her to more places in the future. With her enthusiasm and determination, there’s no doubt that Jacqueline will continue to achieve greatness in all her endeavors. At such a young age, she has already made a significant impact on her community, and her future shines bright with the promise of even greater accomplishments. We wish all the best to Jacquelin in her national record attempt!
