Thirumurai Chemmal Dr Darmalingam Nadarajan is well known spiritual person among Malaysian Indians. He has contributed a lot in spreading awareness, sharing religious knowledge and facts among Indian community. He practices “Saivism”. Saivism, also known as Shaivism, is one of the major traditions within Hinduism, centered around the worship of Lord Shiva as the supreme being. It is one of the oldest and most diverse sects in Hinduism, with a rich history and a wide range of beliefs and practices. Lord Shiva’s followers or people who prays to lord Shiva are addressed as “Shaivas” or “Shaivites”.
Notably, Dr Darmalingam is the Chairman of Malaysia Saiva Narpani Kalagam. They are also conducting religious classes in order to educate the society in religious path. The objectives of the association are:
- To contribute to the development of Saivism among Tamils living in Malaysia and globally.
- To educate or to pave the way to learn the Tamil sayings and lead a religious life through it
- To improve education and quality of life among Malaysian Shaivas based on religion, culture and language.
The association is keep progressing towards their initiatives. They are developing various ways to enlightened the society in spiritual path.
Thirumurai Chemmal Dr Darmalingam is set to launch two new books. Both the books includes religious facts in essay form. They have been titled as “Thamizh Saivar Vaazhviyal Karanangal” (Tamil Saivites Life Ceremonies) and “Thamizh Saivargalin Thirukoyil Vazhipaadu” translated as Tamil Saivites Temple Worship.
The book launching ceremony is scheduled on 6th August 2023 9.30am onwards at Nethaji Hall, Head Office of Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC). Datuk Seri M. Saravanan will be officiating the book launch.
The book on “Tamil Saivites Life Ceremonies” includes the significance, reason behind and proper way of conducting certain traditional cultural rituals which is being practised in Indian society. He has delivered explanations about all the rituals through his essays. The book includes 45 essays which comprises naming ceremony, hair offering ceremony, ceremony for girls who attended age, and baby shower ceremony and rituals for new born babies. Furthermore, it also includes rituals to be performed during a funeral as well.
On other hand, his second book which is about the Tamil Saivites Temple worship informs us on the ancient and accurate way to worship in Shaiva way in temples. These books consists of 41 essays.
Dr. Darmalingam mentioned that these books are compulsory elements and should be treasured in every Saivites households. They should never miss the opportunity to read those books and gain the knowledge.
