Vetrimaaran’s critically acclaimed Viduthalai, starring actor Soori in a pivotal role, had garnered an immense amount of praise and success, both financially and from critics. Many have stated that this is one of the most important and finest works of Vetrimaaran. The film franchise is inspired by writer Jeyamohan’s book title Thunaivan.
As of July 30, the crew has been shooting in the illustrious forest region of Sirumalai. It has been informed that the film crew has another average of forty days of shooting left. Certain scenes of the film are expected to be shot in other locations around Tamil Nadu. For Viduthalai 1, many people have expressed their outmost appreciation for the brilliant way that cinematographer Velraj captured the annihilating beauty and depth of Tamil Nadu’s forests.
The film has a breathtaking cast of phenomenal actors such as Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Chethan, Gautham Menon, Tamizh, Prakash Raj, and many more. The second part of the film focuses more on the history of Vijay Sethupathi’s Vaathiyar character.
This film revolves around the dichotomy between freedom and incarceration that Vetrimaaran expresses through the violence of the police force and the revolutionary spirit of the tribal people. The story of Viduthulai is heavily inspired by the rise of Maoist insurgencies that were prominent in Tamil Nadu around the 1980s.
