The Zone Level SFYC, organised by the dedicated labour of the Association of Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASTI) and the Tamil School’s Headmasters Association of Malaysia, was successfully conducted on August 26 to a marvellously supportive audience of ardent students and teachers alike. This vital educational event was attended by nearly 2000 students from 400 Tamil schools across the nine states of Penang, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor. The science fair, which is constructed as a space where Tamil students can be more enlightened and engaged with the world of science, saw many brilliant and creative ideas produced by the young minds of this generation. Students who have worked and delivered astounding presentations on their projects will excel to the next level of the science fair, which is the National Level Science Fairs (NSFYC).
The winner from each state received an incredible cash prize of RM1000, as well as a trophy, a medal, and a certificate. The first runner-up received RM700, while the second runner-up received RM500. They were also each awarded a trophy, a medal, and a certificate. The organisation additionally awarded medals and certificates to all of the contestants who placed fourth through tenth. Each student who took part in the event was also given a certificate of participation, and the supportive and dedicated teachers were graced with certificates of appreciation for all their endless educational labour.
Kedah
In the state of Kedah, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Ladang Henrietta, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Mahajothi, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Ko Sarangapany.
Melaka
In the state of Melaka, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Durian Tunggal, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Bukit Lintang, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Melaka (Kubu).
Johor
In the state of Johor, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Jalan Haji Manan, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Masai, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Ladang Rini.
Kuala Lumpur
In the state of Kuala Lumpur, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Sentul, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Segambut, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Ladang Edinburgh.
Selangor
In the state of Selangor, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Castlefield, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Pusat Telok Datok, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Tun Sambanthan.
Perak
In the state of Perak, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT St. Philomena Convent, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Slim River, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Perak Sangeetha Sabah.
Negeri Sembilan
In the state of Negeri Sembilan, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Nilai, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Ladang Senawang, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Convent Seremban 2.
Pulau Pinang
In the state of Pulau Pinang, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Permatang Tinggi, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Subramaniya Barathee, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Nibong Tebal.
Pahang
In the state of Pahang, the Gold Award was garnered by SJKT Raub, the Silver Award was presented to SJKT Kuala Terla, and the Bronze Award was bestowed on SJKT Karak.
Programmes such as this greatly encourage the essential development of children in the field of science. Their young minds will be nurtured and stimulated by this wonderful space that fosters a healthy amount of competition, curiosity, and connectivity among students. Tamil students learn along the way how necessary it is for any individual to cultivate an empirical and analytical mind, for only through those methodologies can one learn to interpret and change the world. The sight of these astounding schools being awarded with such noteworthy titles enlightens us with the knowledge that the Tamil youths of today are on a steady path of acquiring a well-rounded education that stands as a beacon of hope for the future of Tamil schools, the nation, and the world as a whole.
