Tamil schools in Malaysia play a significant role in the country’s diverse education landscape. These institutions cater primarily to the Indian community, preserving their language, culture, and heritage. Tamil schools offer a curriculum that includes Tamil language and literature, along with mainstream subjects. They serve as a vital platform for cultural transmission, fostering a strong sense of identity among Tamil Malaysians.

Historically, these schools have faced challenges related to resources and infrastructure, but efforts have been made to improve their conditions. The Malaysian government has shown commitment to the development of Tamil schools, allocating funds and resources to enhance their quality of education.

Despite the challenges, Tamil schools continue to produce successful students who contribute to various fields in Malaysia, reflecting the resilience and significance of these institutions within the multicultural Malaysian society. In that case, a 30 years of dream became true yesterday. Establishment of SJKT Ladang Bukit Ijok was indeed a dream come true moment! Former Senator Dato V.K. Sellappan had invested loads of efforts and hardwork to bring a Tamil school in the area. The school management says the establishment of the school is a tribute towards his great efforts.

SJKT Ladang Bukit Ijok has started its foundation with 16 students from Standard 1, 2 and 3. MR Saravanan Marappan, the headmaster of the school stated that,

“Even though, there are less students in the school for the time being but, I believe that the Indian community in this surrounding will support the school by sending their kids here. Our community will be the part of the development of the school”.

He also thanked the parents of the 16 students for enrolling their kids in this school. Notably, this is the ninth school in Sepang district. Students and parents started coming to school 7am onwards. Excitement fills the air as students, with gleaming eyes and fresh uniforms, eagerly arrive at the new school on the first day. Anticipation and curiosity mark the beginning of their educational journey at SJKT Ladang Bukit Ijok. There were almost 100 people including chief guests, teachers, students and parents who joined the inaugural of the school.
