11th SIIMA Awards: Ponniyin Selvan-1 And Vikram Dominate The Awards

South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) is an annual film awards ceremony that honors outstanding achievements in the South Indian film industry. Recognizing excellence in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema, SIIMA has emerged as a prestigious platform, celebrating the talent and creativity of actors, directors, and technicians. Awards acknowledge and celebrate exceptional talent and creativity, motivating individuals and teams to strive for excellence. These accolades serve as a benchmark for artistic achievement, guiding audiences to noteworthy films and performances. Moreover, awards like these generate buzz and publicity, driving interest in cinema and fostering industry growth.

Award ceremonies serve as a platform for the industry to come together, network, and build connections, fostering collaboration and innovation in the world of filmmaking. Audience will always be eagerly waiting to see which celebrities are attending the award show.

Eleventh edition of SIIMA Awards 2023 took place in Dubai last weekend. There were many celebrities from all the South Indian cinema industry whom graced the award ceremony with their presence. The winners were chosen based on the movies released in 2022.

Maniratnam, the acclaimed director, received recognition at this year’s SIIMA awards ceremony. The SIIMA awards honoured Maniratnam with ‘The Extraordinary Achievement Award’. Maniratnam is a renowned Indian director known for his impactful storytelling and cinematic brilliance. His films often explore complex themes and have made a significant mark in Indian cinema.

Maniratnam’s cinematic expertise, innovative storytelling, and penchant for tackling thought-provoking subjects continue to inspire and influence both aspiring and established filmmakers in the Indian film industry.  He truly deserves this award for his hard work and effort in Ponniyin Selvan. SIIMA awards had also posted on its social media about the legendary director receiving the award as:

During the award ceremony honoring Maniratnam, the esteemed director was joined on stage by actor Kamal Haasan, director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Rishab Shetty, symbolizing a momentous gathering of influential figures in the film industry.

Followed by that, most of the awards for Tamil cinema were bagged by “Vikram” and Ponniyin Selvan”. List of the notable awards are given below:

Best Debutant Actress: Aditi Shankar for “Viruman”

Best Debutant Director: R Madhavan for “Rocketry – The Nambi Effect”

Best Supporting Actress: Vasanthi for “Vikram”

Best Debutant Producer: Gautham Ramachandran for “Gargi”

Best Supporting Actor: Kaali Venkat for “Gargi”

Best Actor In a comedy role: Yogi Babu for “Love Today”

Best Actor In a Negative Role: SJ Suryah for “Don”

Extraordinary Achievement Award: Maniratnam

Best Playback Singer – Male: Kamal Haasan for “Vikram” (Pathala Pathala song)
