Tun V. T. Sambanthan is one of the most prominent Malayan politicians of Indian descent to have emerged on the eve of Malayan independence. He has been renowned and venerated by many people across Malaysia for his contributions towards the development of the Malaysian nation. On his 104th birth year, as a way of remembering his life and contributions, the book titled ‘Vinnil Marainthu Mannil Vazhginraar Tun V. T. Sambanthan’ was launched in the Sungai Kuruda Estate at Sungai Siput, Perak.

Manimaaran Krishnan, the former congressman of Sg. Siput and a writer himself, had organised this event. A. Sivanesan, the Perak state executive council for health, human resources, and Indian community affairs, had also attended the event as the special guest who inaugurated the book launch. Tun Sambanthan’s daughter, Deva Kunjari, who works as a lawyer, also graced the ceremony.

The writer of the book, Manimaaran Krishnan, expressed that he has always wanted to write about Tun Sambanthan and his many contributions and visions for the communities of Malaysia. This book, written in an immensely assessable language, will greatly aid in raising more awareness within the Tamil community about the political, social, and economic perspectives that Tun Sambanthan held.

Tun Sambanthan is one of my favourite leaders. I am very happy that my longtime ambition of writing a book on him has been finally fulfilled. This book, which has been written in a very assessable manner, should also reach students.

– Manimaaran Krishnan writer of Vinnil Marainthu Mannil Vazhginrar Tun V. T. Sambanthan’
