Education is a holistic journey that goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. While academic excellence is crucial, it is equally important for school students to engage in sports and extracurricular activities. These activities play a significant role in keeping their minds fresh and bodies active.

Certainly, SJKT Ladang Glenmarie organised an inclusive football competition titled the “Thiruvalluvar Football Tournament,” on 30th September 2023 which included Tamil schools situated within the Petaling Perdana district. This tournament was arranged by the ‘Parents and Teachers Association’ (PIBG) OF SJKT Ladang Glenmarie.

The victory in the tournament was claimed by the SJKT Vivekananda team. Meanwhile, SJKT Ladang Glenmarie team took pride as the first runner up. SJKT Sungai Renggam selected as the second runner up and Fourth place won by SJKT Tun Sambanthan.

Vice President of Malaysia Indian Football Association(MIFA) A.S.P Rajan officially inaugurated this tournament. President of Selangor School Principals Association, S.S Pandian, Kindergarten and Tamil schools Assistant Director Manisegar, Principals association of Petaling District, S. Govindasamy, Parents and Teachers Association(PIBG) Chairman, Gurupatham and Rajan, from the school committee graced the tournament with their presence.

The headmistress of SJKT Ladang Glenmarie, M. Tamilchelvi, expressed her heartfelt gratitude and profound appreciation for the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts put forth by the school’s Parents and Teachers Association members as well as the devoted teachers, who played an instrumental role in ensuring the resounding success of this tournament.

The headmistress also encouraged the students to join in more activities and show their talent. This will also give them new experience.

Nothing is impossible, it is possible if you believe in yourself! It is possible till you lose your hope. Your confidence is your strength. All of us know Spiderman Arumugam one of the best goalkeeper. Sports helped him to carve his name in the industry. You can take him as an example.

There were 180 students who participated in this tournament. The teams who won the first four places were honoured with challenge trophy and medals. Meanwhile, all the participants who took part in the tournament received medals and certificate of participation. The chairman of ‘Parents and Teachers Association’ stated that hereafter SJKT Ladang Glemarie will host this ‘Thiruvalluvar Football Tournament’  every year September. This will encourage more students to join this tournament and show their talent.

The combination of academics, sports, and extracurricular pursuits equips students with the skills and experiences they need to thrive academically, socially, and personally, both now and in the future. It is the well-rounded education that truly prepares students for the challenges of life beyond the classroom.
