Students from the Chennai SRM University paid an educational visit to SJKT Thambusamy Pillai to deepen their understanding of Tamil education and schools in Malaysia. Under the Audacious Dreams Foundation and the Royal Commonwealth Youth Exchange Programme, 55 university students will be spending 7 days on this beneficial educational visit.
V. M. Vetrivelan, Chairman of the Malaysian Tamil School Education Development and Welfare Association, shared that programmes such as this help strengthen the ties between Malaysia and India while also contributing fruitfully to the exchange of knowledge between the two nations.
This is great exposure for Tamil schools and students alike. There are 290 students at this school, so for this programme to take place at this school, it is a win-win situation for all. There are some teachers who do not know that programmes such as these exist, so it was a beneficial event for teachers as well. Our organisation’s support for this programme will always remain because it aids greatly in the development of the future leaders of both Malaysia and Tamil Nadu.

Dinesh Gajendran, analyst and executive director of the Audacious Dreams Foundation, stated that since 2016, their organisation has arranged for many such exchange programmes to better understand the educational systems of countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.
Our visits last from 1 week to 10 days for students from Tamil Nadu visiting Malaysia on educational trips and also vice versa for Malaysian students visiting Tamil Nadu. We learn about the Malaysian educational system, especially Tamil schools. How governments are giving importance to Tamil schools and preserving the language and culture. Plus, we also learn how public and private universities function. Along with how government governance, politics, and policy operate in Malaysia.
-Dinesh Gajendran, Analyst & Executive Director of Audacious Dreams Foundation.
Dinesh Gajendran also further added that they had also tried to have discussions with government officials and ministers in order for them to gain a deeper understanding of how educational policies, politics, and governance operated in the nation. In the past 6 years, every time the organisation conducts a visit, they bring with them a minimum of 40 students or youths from Tamil Nadu, visiting each Malaysian state.
The event was fruitful and beneficial to all involved. For the university students from Tamil Nadu, they expressed that they had learned many new ideas and innovations from this programme. As for the Malaysian Tamil students, they were immensely happy to show their culture to foreigners. Theresa Ayyakkanu, the headmistress of the school, stated that the programme was helpful for the students. She expressed her outmost gratitude to all the organisations involved in the programmes, as well as to the parents and students who were supportive throughout this educational visit.
