The Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) network is set to immerse its viewers in the joyous atmosphere of the Deepavali celebration, which falls on November 12. This festive occasion will be commemorated across its three prominent TV channels: TV1, TV2, and the Okey channel. To mark this special event, a delightful array of nine captivating programs has been curated, comprising a diverse mix of serial dramas, musical extravaganzas, telemovies, and engaging talk shows.
As the Festival of Lights draws near, viewers can look forward to an enriching family telemovie titled “Kasih Nermala” on TV1, featuring well-known local actors. Subsequently, TV2 will enhance the Deepavali celebrations with a lineup of seven programs.
It will commence with four episodes of a serialized drama series produced by RTM TV’s Drama Unit, titled “Neethan En Annan” This will be followed by the telemovie “Palaya TV,” along with two talk shows: “Vasantham Deepavali Special” and “What Say You Deepavali Special.” Additionally, two musical programs, namely the “Bintang Minnal 2023 Grand Finale” and “Oli Veesum Deepavali,” will delight the audience. The same channel will conclude its Deepavali programming with the Tamil movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise.’
Meanwhile, the ‘Okey’ channel will be broadcasting a telefilm titled “Ennaval,” which translates to ‘She Belongs to Me.’ It’s a story of an investigation unraveling the mystery of the death of a man whose unanswered love is at the center of the narrative. Kasih Nermala
This telemovie will be telecasted on 11 November at 2pm on TV1. The story of Nermala, who navigates the twists and turns of life as the eldest sister supporting her siblings Devan, Sara, and Sudha after their mother’s death due to accident. Nermala shares a close friendship with Wati. Wati and her mother try to assist Nermala. Eventually, called Nermala and her siblings to live with their uncle in Kuala Lumpur. However, their stepmother doesn’t like them staying there and they are eventually forced to return to their village. In order to provide for her younger siblings, Nermala sacrifices by selling nasi lemak and putu mayam with the help of Wati and her mother. Cast: Kenchana Devi, Eagaivalli, Ku Fridah, Hanumethan, Gobbinath, and Shakilla Koriri.
Neethaan En Annan
‘Neethaan En Annan’ is a four episode drama which premieres on TV2 at 2.30pm from 8th November onwards. Ramesh is a cheerful part-time photographer. Without a steady job, he lives with his brother, Rohit. Although they often don’t see eye to eye, Ramesh acknowledges that his brother is more successful and career-oriented than he is. As an employee at his brother’s villa, Ramesh perseveres despite hurtful comments from Rohit at sometimes.
Ramesh’s life takes a turn when he starts falling for a flower vendor named Kaasini. Ramesh falls in love with Kaasini and attempts to get closer to her. Later he realised, Kaasini is his brother’s girlfriend. The relationship between the two siblings begins to strain when Kaasini confesses to Ramesh that she loves Rohit. Finally, Ramesh realizes his mistake. The cast of this series includes Thevaguru as Rohit, Daview Puvanan as Ramesh, Hamsni Perumal as Kassini, Shabby as Aswin.
Palaya TV
This story rewinds to the 1990s, depicting the life of Mahadevan, an estate worker with four children. Their family doesn’t own a TV. Mahadevan works hard and eventually manages to purchase a TV for their home. His eldest son, 8-year-old Kuben, learns how to operate the TV without his father’s knowledge. The TV experiences some technical issues. As Deepavali approaches, Kuben and his siblings watch TV while their father is away at work. When they face problems with the antenna, Kuben attempts to fix it, but inadvertently, the TV gets damaged and cannot be repaired. Kuben and his siblings become frightened and concoct a lie that the TV was struck by lightning. Kuben plans to deter his father from watching TV by claiming there’s a ghost in it and so on. However, Mahadevan eventually discovers that the TV is damaged. He forgives his son, and they celebrate Deepavali without a TV at home. Cast: Tinesh Sarathi, Aahmu Thiru, Vasanth, Yubashana, and Thaarwinesh.
Vasantham Deepavali Special
A live talk show program on 11 November 2023 at 3pm on TV2, which comes with engaging topics in conjunction with the Deepavali Celebration 2023.
What Say You Deepavali Special 2023
“What Say You” will be telecasted 12 November at 3pm on TV2. Its a live talk show program in Mandarin with interesting topics for the Deepavali Celebration 2023.
Bintang Minnal 2023 Grand Finale
The Grand Finale of Bintang Minnal 2023 features six contestants: Jeevaa Jayagopal, Raajasree Gobi, Swetha Nair Krishnakumar, Shuruti Kesavan, Barath Nair, and Nimalaan Gangkathran. They showcased their singing talents on the Minnal Star 2023 Grand Finale stage, hosted by Ravin, Theyvekgan, and Buvana, accompanied by the Kiravani Live Music Band. The entertainment included special performances as intermissions with the “Bintang Minnal 2020” winner, Piraveen, and a renowned local singer, Dharshaini.
Oli Veesum Deepavali
A special concert featuring performances of Tamil and Hindustani songs, as well as classical and modern dances. Watch the concert on 12 November at 9pm on TV2. The concert will be enlivened by the vibrant singing and dancing of both pioneer and new artists. It was also hosted by the talented duo of Theyvekgan and Ashwinniie. Artists included Santesh, Dharshaini, Roshini, Zubir Khan, Arunboii, Siddarth, and Balan Kash.
Pushpa: The Rise
The story revolves around a laborer named Pushpa who becomes involved in a red sandalwood smuggling syndicate. He often faces disappointment from his stepbrother due to being born out of wedlock to their father. Pushpa seizes an opportunity to work in a dense red sandalwood forest where the valuable wood is smuggled to other countries. He successfully saves a multimillion-dollar red sandalwood smuggling operation under the supervision of DSP, known as the Reddy Brothers.
Pushpa outwits the DSP, his team, and forms a close connection with Konda Reddy to achieve this. Pushpa transforms his lifestyle and decides to marry Srivelli, but his stepbrother exposes their mother’s relationship with their father, leading to the cancellation of the marriage.
Pushpa further solidifies his position within the red sandalwood smuggling syndicate. However, he is compelled to confront Shekawat, a police officer, leading to a growing vendetta. Cast: Allu Arjun, Fahadh Fasil, Rashmika Mandana, Jagadeesh Prathap, Sunil, and Rao Ramesh. Catch this movie on 12 November at 10.30pm on TV2.
Ennaval
This telemovie will be showcased on Okey at 2.30pm on 12th November. The story revolves around a young couple, Barathi and Deva, who fall in love and get married. Their lives take a twist when Arjun, Barathi’s former college boyfriend from her time in Sydney, Australia, returns. Arjun pressures Barathi to meet him and tragically passes away, reportedly by suicide, after Barathi refuses to reconcile with him. Cast: C. Kumaresan, Sangeeta Krishnasamy, Vasanth Sarna, Yashini Devi, and Suresh.
