The recent news of the recognition was bestowed upon Mr. S. T. Arasu, a former Malaysian sports events management professional, by the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet. Mr. Arasu was awarded the Royal Order Monisarapon Mohaseng for his significant role in the successful organization of the 32nd SEA Games, where Cambodia hosted the event for the first time in 64 years.
Mr. Arasu’s contributions as a consultant for the Cambodian SEA Games Organizing Committee played a pivotal role in the preparations for both the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games. The award ceremony, held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, was part of a special celebration marking Cambodia’s triumph in hosting the Games.
In expressing his gratitude, Mr. Arasu acknowledged the challenges faced during the event and credited the strong leadership of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) and the collaborative spirit of everyone involved in the organization for the success of the Games.
The Royal Oder Monisarapon Mohaseng, presented to Mr. Arasu, is a recognition of his significant contributions in the fields of art, education, literacy, social work, or science. His achievement reflects positively on Malaysia and the international sports community.
The Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Hashim, praised Mr. Arasu’s accomplishments, highlighting the honor bestowed upon him by the Cambodian government. Mr. Arasu’s extensive experience in sports journalism, including receiving the Best Malaysian Sports Writer Award twice, and his current roles in sports associations further demonstrates his dedication to the field.
The success of the 32nd SEA Games was celebrated by thousands of Cambodians, with the country achieving a commendable fourth place with 81 gold, 74 silver, and 127 bronze medals. Mr. Arasu’s recognition adds another layer of pride to Malaysia’s representation on the international sports stage.
