Sivasangari Subramaniam Rises To No.22 In Squash World Rankings

Sivasangari Subramaniam, a source of national pride, is a highly acclaimed squash player known for her remarkable achievements in the sport. With a distinguished career marked by active participation in numerous competitions, she has not only showcased her exceptional skills but has also emerged victorious, clinching numerous prestigious titles. Widely regarded as one of Malaysia’s premier squash players, Sivasangari has consistently demonstrated unparalleled prowess on the court, solidifying her reputation as a standout athlete in the country.

This shining star faced a tragic accident last year and suffered with severe injuries. However, displaying remarkable resilience and determination, Sivasangari made a swift and triumphant return to the court within a mere seven months of the unfortunate incident.

Following a period of inactivity due to the accident and subsequent recovery phase, regrettably, her world ranking experienced a decline. Having once held the prestigious No.16 spot in the world rankings, Sivasangari, as of June 5, 2023, found herself at No.50 as she faced challenge in getting back to her form.

Persistently putting in considerable effort and refusing to concede, Sivasangari battled steadfastly. Her determination resulted in numerous victories, ultimately leading to an improvement in her ranking. Sivasangari was in the 29th place in the world ranking as of 13th November 2023.

Recently, she on two gold medals in the 19th Asian Games and reached the semi-finals of the Ace Malaysia Squash Cup. Currently, the athlete is actively participating in the VITAGEN Singapore Squash Open 2023. In a notable achievement, she defeated the 6th ranked player and successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition.

With the victory in the recent competition, Sivasangari has elevated her standing in the squash world rankings to an impressive 22nd position as of 20th November 2023. This noteworthy achievement underscores her unwavering commitment, exceptional skill, and relentless pursuit of excellence on the squash court, marking a significant ascent in her competitive standing on the world stage. Sivasangari is also set to grace the upcoming Olympics scheduled to take place in Paris next year as well.
