In an extraordinary display of unity and dedication, students from SJKT Sungai Salak have achieved a remarkable feat, setting a new record for the ‘Longest Malaysia Madani Flag’ to commemorate the 66th National Day. Guided by the school’s headmaster, Mr. Sivakumar, and supported by teachers, parents, and staff, students as young as five have crafted an impressive 99.4-meter-long banner, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and emphasizing Malaysia’s multicultural identity by inscribing the words ‘Malaysia Madani‘ 17,356 times in four languages such as Malay, English, Chinese, and Tamil.

Under the inspiration of Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim, the banner begins with silhouettes of the last 10 prime ministers, presented in Tamil, Malay, and Chinese, serving as a historical tribute to the leaders who have played pivotal roles in shaping the nation.

A thoughtful addition to the banner showcases representations of each ethnic group in Malaysia, along with distinctive features of each state, including iconic landmarks such as KLCC in Kuala Lumpur and the Minangkabau in Negeri Sembilan. This artistic representation aims to capture the uniqueness of each state and foster a sense of national pride. The hibiscus, or bunga raya, Malaysia’s national flower, takes center stage throughout the banner, adding a touch of patriotism and enlivening the spirit of national pride among the students of SJKT Sungai Salak.

Not only do the detailed paintings showcase the artistic abilities of primary school students, but they also serve as a captivating backdrop for the entire display. The phrase ‘Malaysia Madani‘ prominently graces the top of these illustrations, creating a harmonious fusion of language, history, and art.

To make this record attempt even more special, the District Education Officer of Port Dickson, Tuan Hj. Kamanizam bin Hj. Tindek, witnessed the students’ accomplishments and participated in the memorable record attempt. On November 22, 2023, he handed over the national certificate and medal, commemorating this historic achievement.

The collaborative effort of SJKT Sungai Salak’s students in creating the ‘Longest Malaysia Madani flag’ is not only a remarkable accomplishment but also a testament to the values of unity, diversity, and patriotism ingrained within the school’s community. The commitment of the students, coupled with the unwavering support of those around them, has resulted in a visual masterpiece that will forever remain etched in their hearts, symbolizing the spirit of Malaysia’s unity in diversity.
