The Malaysia Naalvar Mandram was established in the year 2013 with a noble aim to disseminate knowledge about Saivism and the profound significance of Thirumurai. This visionary initiative strives to shape the understanding of every Hindu individual within the society.
Saivism, a prominent sect within Hinduism, is characterized by its devotion to Lord Shiva, and Thirumurai refers to a collection of sacred hymns and scriptures dedicated to the worship of this deity. The Malaysia Naalvar Mandram seeks to illuminate the minds of the community with the wisdom embedded in these ancient texts, fostering a deep appreciation for the spiritual teachings they contain.
As the Malaysia Naalvar Mandram marks a decade of its establishment, the association is commemorating this milestone with a special initiative in conjunction with its 10th-year anniversary. In celebration, they are organizing the third edition of the ‘Tamil Maraiyaam Thirumurai’ conference.
This significant event serves as a testament to the commitment and dedication of the Malaysia Naalvar Mandram in promoting and preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of Saivism over the past ten years. The ‘Tamil Maraiyaam Thirumurai’ conference stands as a flagship endeavor, bringing together scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts to delve into the profound teachings encapsulated in Thirumurai, the sacred hymns dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The highly anticipated conference, marking the ‘Malaysia Naalvar Mandram’s’ decade of dedication, is scheduled to take place on December 9, 2023 at Kalamandabam, Brickfields from 8am to 5.30pm. This significant event will be held under the theme ‘Thirumurai Kaatum Peruneri.’
The first and second conferences occurred in 2014 and 2018, respectively, with the upcoming conference scheduled for 2023. The registration fee for this event is RM80. Datuk Seri M. Saravanan is set to officiate the conference organised by Malaysia Naalvar Mandram. The attendees will be provided with breakfast, lunch, tea break, magazine of the conference, ruthratcham, packet of Thiruneer and a Sivapuraanam book as well.
Balakrishnan Kandasamy, the Chairman of Malaysia Naalvar Mandram, said that the upcoming conference will feature distinguished speakers, including the esteemed religious leader Sreemath Sivakara Thesiga Swamigal from Tamil Nadu. In addition to the religious discours, the conference will also include special segments by Professor So. So. Meenatchi Sundaram and Sithantha Kalanithi K. Sivakumar.
“We expect 800-900 attendees at the conference, focusing on Thirumurai. Our goal is to share the messages of Naalvars—Thirunyanasambanthar, Thirunaavukarasar, Suntharamoorthi Naayanar, and Manickavasagar. We aim to spread these teachings within our community and advocate for nationwide Thevaram and Thiruvasagam classes. This conference is a crucial step toward achieving these broader goals, fostering a lasting appreciation for the spiritual and cultural richness of Thirumurai.”, he added.
In addition to the spiritual talks, the conference will feature Bharatanatyam performances set to the backdrop of Thirumurai songs, where the dancers will interpret the essence of Thirumurai through their art. The event will also include Thirumurai recitations and various other cultural presentations. Notably, a book titled “63 Naayanmargal Guru Vazhipaadu” will be officially launched during the conference, adding a significant literary dimension to the event.
This conference not only reflects the commitment of the Malaysia Naalvar Mandram to the cause of spiritual education and cultural preservation but also signifies a broader mission to foster community engagement and a deepened understanding of the principles embedded in Saivism. As they embark on this conference, the Malaysia Naalvar Mandram aims to further inspire a sense of pride and connection among its members while extending an invitation to the wider community to participate in the celebration of a decade dedicated to the promotion of knowledge, spirituality, and cultural heritage.
