The Selangor Indian Sports Council recently hosted a prestigious award-giving ceremony to honor and acknowledge the remarkable achievements of young and elderly Malaysian Indian sports athletes. This significant event was organized in celebration of the council’s 86th anniversary, marking nearly nine decades of dedicated service and support to the Indian sports community in Selangor. There were 9 sports athletes who were awarded in this award ceremony which took place at Subang.

The ceremony served as a platform to recognize the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of Indian athletes who have excelled in various sporting disciplines. The awards ceremony recognized outstanding achievements in four distinct categories: State-level Best Performers, National Best Performers, the Selangor Indian Sports Council’s Special Award, and the Lifetime Achiever Award.

One of our nation’s accomplished doubles badminton players, Thinaah Muralitharan, who partners with Pearly Tan, was among the distinguished recipients at the award ceremony. In expressing her gratitude, she emphasized the importance of recognizing and cultivating individual talents. Thinaah shared the perspective that every person possesses unique abilities, underscoring the significance of relentless effort and perseverance in the pursuit of success.

According to her, it is crucial for individuals to steadfastly work towards their goals, undeterred by challenges, as success may not be immediate, but it will inevitably come at the right time. Thinaah emphasized the virtue of patience, urging others to persist in their endeavors and not to lose hope, as achievements are realized through unwavering determination and continuous effort. In essence, her message conveyed the idea that success is a result of dedication, hard work, and the willingness to endure until the opportune moment arrives.

“I am delighted and filled with pride for the privilege of sharing the stage and receiving this award alongside senior athletes.”, said Thinaah.

Receiving an award and having the opportunity to share the stage with seasoned and accomplished athletes is an experience that brings a deep sense of joy and honor. The acknowledgment of one’s efforts and achievements becomes even more meaningful when it is shared with esteemed individuals who have paved the way in the world of sports. Hence, this initiative by Selangor Indian Sports Council should be appreciated.
