Since yesterday at noon at 12 p.m., there has been continuous rain for nearly two hours, which has caused a massive amount of flash flooding to occur in 25 places in Johor Bahru. When news of the rain hit the SKUAD KILAT at 2 p.m., they quickly prepared themselves and rushed to the spots to aid the victims. The floods began at around 3:40 p.m. yesterday afternoon.
Some residents had taken the measure of breaking down their doors and roofs in order to save themselves from being harmed by the floods, which had come so suddenly. As reported by Bernama, one resident by the name of Muhammad Ikram Md. Rashid, 24, was trying to rest after returning from work in Singapore, but he had been suddenly startled by the sound of a loud bang, and when he peered out, he could see that the flood had risen to chest-levels. The scared young man had been luckily saved by his neighbour, who broke through his house door.
The fire department had also rescued 38 children and six teachers from a kindergarten in Kampung Mohd Amin who were trapped on the premises due to the floods.
