Lieutenant Thachnatharen Nagarajan has received the honorary and prestigious Highest Excellence Award for Research (Master’s) at the 13th Convocation of the National Defence University of Malaysia, becoming the first ever student in the university’s history to be bestowed with such an award. This important and significant award was gifted to the graduate by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. This is an exceptional and momentous moment for not only Lieutenant Thachnatharen and the Malaysian Indian community but the entire nation as a whole, with the creation of a dedicated scholar such as him who will inevitably contribute vastly to the development of the nation. It must also be expressed here that he has made his loved ones incredibly proud and joyful of the immense success he has brought to his lineage and legacy through this important award.

Thachnatharen’s astounding dedication in his pursuit of academic and extracurricular excellence can be seen through his many contributions in leadership, team building, and communications that he has established as a young and bright scholar. This young man has served as the Youth Chairman of My Culture, a disciplined and parotitic Army Officer (Defence Scientist), and a motivational speaker. This astounding graduate has sharpened and harnessed his skills, which are of great benefit and use to society as a whole. Thachnatharen’s unrelenting and consistent devotion to building his intellect and social consciousness has made him an inspiring legacy.

This historic award is also reflective of the Indian community’s growth and dedication towards attaining academic and educational excellence. This victory stands as an emblem that expresses how much value and potential the Malaysian Indian youth of today have in developing and envisioning a stronger Malaysian nation where its citizens, regardless of their ethnic and religious background, can come together to nurture and protect the country.
