SJK (T) Ladang Ampar Tenang, a school with a 100-year history, and the neighbouring housing settlement are at risk of flooding due to the nearby construction work that is taking place under the Sepang Municipal Council. After the fragmentation of plantations, many former plantation workers were displaced and resettled elsewhere 15 years ago and the school also found itself to be reconstructed in this area. For nearly 15 years, the school’s management has tried to gain ownership of the field that is in front of the school in order to benefit the children. Currently, a part of the field is being used by the nearby construction, where nearly 3 metres of land has been dug out. Due to this, there have been fears that the people there will be greatly affected by floods.
It has been 15 years of protest. The reason we protest is for this Tamil school to get hold of this field so that it can be of good use to the children and youngsters that live here. Because it is a good field, in this whole locality there is none like it. We are working very hard so that this field can be given to the Tamil school.

Additionally. Senator Dato’ Nelson Ranganathan, the head of the educational faction of MIC, also adds that, from his operation side of things, he would be attempting to engage in talks with the Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari. He had also shared that the construction poses a threat of flooding hitting the neighbourhood, which will leave those who live there in a vulnerable state if proper safety precautions are not implemented. There was also a complaint that the construction work was also occupying the field without any fences or barriers, which could become a hazard to the children.
