There has been a recent increase in the number of diagnosed COVID-19 cases in Malaysia. Due to the change in weather, which happens at the end of the year, some people who have fallen sick have initially thought they were only ill with a cough or cold and have found themselves actually to have contracted COVID-19.
Head of University Malaya’s Trauma and Emergency Akademic Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Dato’ Dr. Rishya Manikam advises that people try their best to take self-precautions against the spread of COVID, just as they did when the pandemic was at its peak.
Just like the time before this, we can be more cautious on our health like washing our hands, wearing a face mask and avoiding going out in crowded places if it is not necessary.

Bernama reports that during the pandemic, due to social distancing and other precautions that were followed by the people, over time the number of COVID cases dropped. Now, after nearly a year and a half of having controlled the pandemic crisis, there has been another increase in cases that have been registered. The Health Ministry also stated that because it was the end of the year, we were very likely to see many instances of increased cases. That is why taking extra precaution is necessary for people to continue the battle against COVID.
For those who feel that they have symptoms of COVID-19, it is strongly advised that they take proper measurements to test themselves and take proper medications to cure their illness. Those who have been diagnosed should also practice social distancing and completely avoid going out in public until they have been cured in order to stop the spread of this disease. Dr. Rishya also cautioned that the public should not panic at the sight of cases increasing and that, with proper precaution, we can overcome this battle against COVID-19.
