ANIH Berhad, the concessionaire of the Kuala Lumpur – Karak Highway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT 1), is actively enhancing its operational preparedness to manage the anticipated increase in traffic during the upcoming Christmas holiday season.
“Between December 23rd and 26th, it is expected that nearly one million vehicles will be using the KLK and LP1 highways,” a statement says.
Analysing traffic trends on both highways, the concessionaire anticipates a notable rise in the average daily traffic volume. As per the announcement, KLK is projected to observe a substantial increase, reaching 172,200 vehicles per day—an impressive surge exceeding 70% compared to the usual daily traffic. Simultaneously, LPT1 is expected to see an average daily traffic volume of 68,200 vehicles, reflecting a growth of over 50% from its standard traffic flow.
The Chief Executive Officer of ANIH Bhd, Imran Gulcharan Abdullah, emphatically encourages travellers to refer to the provided Travel Time Advisory (TTA) for guidance, aiming to enhance their travel experience by ensuring a smoother and more comfortable journey. Checking the TTA will offer valuable information and recommendations to optimize travel routes, minimize potential delays, and contribute to an overall improved travel experience for individuals on the road.
“Compliance with the TTA is expected to reduce congestion on both highways,” he said.
With a committed initiative to improve the comfort of travelers, ANIH Bhd has strengthened its auxiliary staff presence at toll plazas and strategically positioned RELA members along the highways. This proactive strategy is crafted to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted flow of traffic during the designated period.
Travellers are encouraged to use Rest and Relax areas(R&R) or designated stops as needed, and to adhere meticulously to road signs, speed limits and directives from highway personnel. These measures ensure a safe and comfortable journey for everyone”, the statement stated.
