The Payanam Thodarum 5.0 event, held on December 31, 2023, was meticulously organized by the Heritage Culture & Arts Association of Malaysia. The primary objective of this event was to underscore the significance of Indian traditions and culture, particularly among the younger generation. The overarching aim was to provide a platform that not only highlights the rich tapestry of Indian heritage but also serves as a stage for showcasing the immense talent residing within the younger demographic.

The event sought to bridge the generational gap by fostering an appreciation for age-old traditions, instilling a sense of pride in cultural heritage, and promoting cultural continuity. The funds received through this event will  be utilised to conduct free Bharathanatyam classes for children from B40 family said the Chairman of Heritage Culture & Arts Association of Malaysia, Madam Devi Letchumanan.

“Over the span of two years, we have successfully organized five editions of the Payanam Thodarum series. This deliberate frequency in hosting the event is rooted in a strategic approach aimed at fostering continuous progress among the individuals, primarily students. The rationale behind organizing these events at regular intervals is to counteract the tendency for complacency that may arise during extended breaks,” she added.

Furthermore, the emerging talents are actively engaged in mastering the intricacies of proper sangeetham and Bharatanatyam, aiming to enhance their singing abilities. This dedicated focus on structured music and classical dance training is instrumental in refining their artistic skills and laying a solid foundation for their performances.

The young talents who took part in Payanam Thodarum 5.0 expressed genuine satisfaction and gratitude for the opportunity to exhibit their talents on this noteworthy platform. This event has proven to be more than just a showcase; it has become a pivotal stage for these aspiring artists to bring forth their learned skills and passion. Payanam Thodarum 5.0 emerged as a commendable initiative that not only celebrated Indian traditions but also paved the way for the younger generation to become torchbearers of a rich cultural heritage.
