Woman Seeks Justice After Her Brand New Perodua Bezza Broke Down Within 8 Hours Of Purchase

Nagakanni Subramaniam alleges that after a mere 8 hours of purchasing her Perodua Bezza at Harapan Terang Motor Sdn Bhd, Segamat on October 17, the car had malfunctioned and could not be operated. On her Facebook page, she details how, after the car broke down, it was towed by the Segamat Perodua Service Centre, who stated that her engine was spoiled. When she asked for a replacement for the car from Perodua, she was told that the Head Quarters would take somewhere between 2 weeks to a month to give their decision on the matter.

On November 9, Mr.Sufian, a customer sales executive from Perodua HQ, stated that after investigating the matter, her car engine had been damaged due to coming into contact with a foreign substance like sugar, which is not used by Perodua. Nagakanni was perplexed, as she also did not bring any food, much less sugary substances near her car. She shares that she did not disturb the engine.

On November 15, the same customer sales executive informs Nagakanni that she has to take out another loan in order to purchase a new car, to which she replied that she will not be applying for a new loan until they have settled her older loan for the damaged car. It has been over two months, and Nagakanni continues to pay RM537 for her car loan, despite not being able to use the vehicle. After taking to Facebook to air her grievances, which had gone viral, she received a reply from Perodua, which also did not contain any final solution on the matter.

Replying to Perodua’s statement that they had offered her a “courtesy car” and “proposed to buy back her car,” Nagakanni states that Perodua had in fact asked her to take out a second loan to purchase a new car. She further expresses that in these two months there has not been any clarification from Perodua on matters pertaining to Perodua buying back her old car or about the loan payment for the previous car.

On Perodua’s end, chief operating officer JH Rozman Jaafar stated that Nagakanni’s case is being prioritised and denied the allegations that no action of resolution had been taken on their part. He also assured that a thorough investigation is being conducted and that details of the matter will be shared over time.
