This year, Thaipusam, the highly anticipated religious festival among Malaysian Indians, is slated to be celebrated on January 25, 2024. Devotees are eagerly awaiting this divine occasion, marked by fervent celebrations. Thaipusam holds special significance, and its festivities are particularly prominent at the Batu Cave Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple, Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, and the Balathandayuthapani Temple (Thanneermalai). A distinctive feature of Thaipusam is the varied types of kaavadis, which serve as the highlight of the celebration. Many devoted individuals have already commenced fulfilling their vows to Lord Murugan in preparation for this auspicious day.
Given the expected influx of visitors to Batu Caves on Thaipusam, Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) has proposed several alternative public transportation routes for those considering options beyond the KTM from KL Sentral. While KL Sentral remains a central hub with diverse transportation options, such as KTM, LRT, and MRT, the suggested alternatives aim to provide additional convenience to attendees.
1. Kampung Batu KTM station
Devotees have the option to board the KTM from Kampung Batu station directly to Batu Caves, with the journey spanning a mere 7 minutes. Trains from various stations connects at Kampung Batu station.
2. Sentul KTM Station
Direct trains are accessible from Sentul KTM station to Batu Caves, offering a convenient travel option for individuals situated in the northern part of the city. The journey encompasses approximately 19 minutes, with Batu Caves serving as the fourth station from Sentul KTM station. This route provides a swift and efficient transportation alternative for those seeking to reach Batu Caves with ease.
3. Sungai Buloh KTM Station
The station is situated on the outskirts of the city but boasts excellent connectivity to Batu Caves. Devotees can opt for the MRT Sungai Buloh and make a seamless interchange at Kampung Batu KTM station. From this interchange point, they can then proceed directly to Batu Caves. This transportation route not only facilitates accessibility for those located on the city’s periphery but also ensures a smooth and continuous journey for devotees on their way to Batu Caves.
Furthermore, as stated in our previous article, we highlighted that 28 KTM stations would be operational 24 hours a day from January 23rd to January 26th, 2024. KTM has now disclosed the list of these 28 stations, which is provided below.
As Thaipusam approaches, devotees are encouraged to consider the alternative transportation options when making their journey to Batu Caves. Meticulous planning is key to ensuring a smooth and blessed Thaipusam experience. May this auspicious occasion be filled with divine grace for all the devotees.
