Lal Salaam: AR Rahman Recreates Voices of Late Singers Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed Through AI Technology

AR Rahman has crafted the musical score for “Lal Salaam,” the upcoming directorial venture by Aishwarya Rajinikanth slated for release on 9th February, 2024. The film features Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in prominent roles, with Rajinikanth making an extended cameo appearance. The audio launch event, which took place recently, presented the entire album for “Lal Salaam.”

AR Rahman has elevated his enchanting compositions to a new milestone in the film “Lal Salaam.” Employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, he ingeniously recreated the voices of the late legendary singers Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hamed for the song “Thimiri Yezhuda” from the movie. This innovative use of AI demonstrates Rahman’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of musical creativity, preserving the essence of the original voices and incorporating them seamlessly into his mesmerizing composition for “Lal Salaam.”

On Monday, SonyMusic South utilized Twitter to share intriguing details about the track, captivating the audience’s attention. The revelation of such innovative information caused the song to go viral, sparking widespread interest and discussion among listeners. This proactive approach by SonyMusic South not only generated buzz around the song but also contributed to its rapid dissemination across various social media platforms, further amplifying its popularity.

However, this situation sparked concerns within a particular segment of the audience regarding the use of voices from late singers. In response to this, AR Rahman addressed the issue, clarifying that prior permission had been sought from the respective families of the late singers. He emphasized that the families granted their approval for the composition, and adequate remuneration has been duly provided to them. This clarification aims to assure the audience that the process was conducted with sensitivity and respect towards the artists and their families.
