The Thiruvalluvar Hall in Port Klang played host to the Valluvar Vizha 2024, a monumental event that unfolded on January 28. This grand occasion that had been organised by Thirukkural Mandram provided a captivating stage for Tamil students from Selangor, and among the highlights was an exhilarating chess tournament that showcased the strategic prowess of these young minds. Notably, the students of SJKT Puchong emerged as shining stars, creating a remarkable name for themselves at such a young age.

In the Under-12 category, where 35 students displayed their chess skills, K. Vetrivel from SJKT Puchong secured a commendable 21st place, earning the coveted bronze medal and a certificate. His strategic moves and dedication to the game not only reflected his individual brilliance but also contributed to the school’s overall success.

Moving on to the Under-15 category, where 30 students engaged in intense battles on the chessboard, V. Sanjana of SJKT Puchong emerged as a prominent contender. Her exceptional skills led her to the 8th position, securing a prestigious silver medal and certificate. Sanjana’s achievement not only brought glory to herself but also showcased the strong chess culture thriving within the SJKT Puchong student body.

In the Under-8 category, where 23 young enthusiasts showcased their budding talents, SJKT Puchong’s E. Siddharthan exhibited exceptional prowess. Claiming the coveted 1st place, Siddharthan proudly received the gold medal along with a certificate, marking a remarkable achievement at such a tender age. His victory serves as a testament that the young children of today are paving the way for a better and brighter future.

The Valluvar Vizha 2024 Chess Tournament not only celebrated the game of intellect but also highlighted the dedication and talent flourishing among Tamil students in Selangor. SJKT Puchong’s notable achievements underscore the school’s commitment to fostering holistic development and nurturing future chess maestros. Congratulations to K. Vetrivel, V. Sanjana, and E.
