Batik Air, formerly known as Malindo Air, has appointed Dato’ Chandran Rama Muthy as the new CEO, succeeding Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri. Chandran, who previously held the position of the inaugural CEO of Batik Air from 2013 to August 2019, has now returned to lead the airline once again. Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri, the outgoing previous CEO, has been promoted to the role of safety director at Batik Air Malaysia’s parent company, the Lion Air Group of Indonesia.
During Chandran’s previous leadership, Batik Air experienced substantial growth in executing its strategic plans, marked by significant network expansion and improved service performance. The airline emphasises that these achievements have laid a solid foundation for the long-term development of Batik Air, fostering sustainable value creation for industry partners, customers, and stakeholders.
The airline expressed gratitude to Mushafiz for his distinguished leadership during his four-and-a-half-year tenure as CEO. The reshuffling of leadership positions within Batik Air and the Lion Air Group reflects a strategic move to ensure continued progress and excellence in the airline’s operations. With Chandran back at the helm, Batik Air aims to build upon its past successes and further establish itself as a key player in the aviation industry.
