Batu Member of Parliament, P. Prabakaran has been appointed as the new chairman of the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) Special Committee. This announcement comes as he takes over from Sungai Buloh MP Datuk R. Ramanan, who held the position since April of the preceding year.
Speaking to Nambikkai, Prabakaran acknowledged the negative perceptions surrounding MITRA and affirmed his dedication to rectifying its reputation. He emphasised that addressing the issues of corruption and malpractice will be among his top priorities as the new chairman. He further stated that the positions of the current and future committee members will be discussed with the Prime Minister.
The new chairman stated that, as MITRA is focused on the transformation of the Indian community, it cannot deal with the problems faced by the community. To bridge this gap, he proposed the establishment of a dedicated division within MITRA, focusing on critical issues such as education, economics, Tamil schools, identity cards, and employment.
Prabakaran expresses that fellow leaders and the general public who align with this vision should extend their cooperation towards him.
