Varnam Malaysia reached to Roshan Jamrock to know more about his “Little Bit Crazy” song.
When questioned about how he secured the opportunity to be part of the song, he explained, “I was approached by both the talented director of ‘J.Baby,’ Suresh Mari, and the music producer, Tony Britto, to contribute to the track. The title ‘Little Bit Crazy’ was coined after the song was crafted. Notably, Suresh Anne, associated with PA Ranjith’s camp, took notice of my work during the songs I collaborated on for ‘Kabali.’ I express my gratitude to both Suresh Anne and Tony Britto for inviting me to be a part of this project.”
Discussing the concept behind the song, Roshan highlighted that the idea originated from the moviemakers. He elaborated on his role in the creative process, stating, “I penned the lyrics in accordance with the given concept to enhance the song’s poetic beauty. My approach was to articulate in words and poetry my vision of the character J.Baby. Director Suresh provided me with specific pointers and scenes to visualize, and I built upon those foundations. Additionally, the impactful music, produced and composed by Tony Britto, played a crucial role. My writing is inherently driven by the music; had it been composed differently, undoubtedly, my lyrical expression would have taken a different form. Let’s just say the music served as the guiding force behind my pen.”
The song serves as a heartfelt dedication to resilient and empowered women, with Roshan eloquently capturing the essence of boldness within the lyrics. In this musical composition, he not only emphasizes the strength and courage inherent in women but also advocates for the idea that every girl should embrace bravery and fortitude. Roshan’s lyrics contribute a layer of depth to the song, delving into the intricacies of the qualities that make women bold and powerful.
How was your experience working in this song?
Consistently, it has been an extraordinary experience. Moving seamlessly from collaborations with PA Ranjith to Suresh Mari, and from Santhosh Narayanan to Tony Britto, what truly stands out is the immense trust placed in my abilities by these influential figures. The remarkable aspect lies in the fact that these decision-makers wholeheartedly believe in my capacity to excel in my craft. There’s no back-and-forth, no incessant changes, and no constant suggestions for improvement. Instead, they afford me the freedom to let my creativity flow and trust me wholeheartedly to deliver on the assigned task.
In the words often echoed on platforms like TikTok, they essentially say, “Let Him Cook,” and that’s precisely the autonomy they grant me. This level of trust and creative freedom not only fosters a conducive working environment but also allows for the genuine expression of artistic vision, ultimately resulting in the delivery of work that resonates with authenticity and creativity.
Anticipations for both the song and the movie are set high. In terms of the song, the aspiration is for it to transcend mere popularity and become a timeless anthem celebrating the strength of good, resilient women. The primary goal is not merely virality but rather creating a piece that continues to resonate and be appreciated years down the line—an enduring contribution to the musical landscape.
As for the movie, the hope is for it to achieve blockbuster status. Audiences can expect a cinematic experience that diverges from the conventional format, promising something refreshingly different. For those seeking a unique viewing experience, “J.Baby,” premiering in cinemas on the 8th of March 2024, is one to watch. Returning to the song, a special treat awaits with the release of a director’s cut music video. Shot by Director Haran, the Malaysian segments promise a distinctive version of the music video, adding an exciting dimension to the overall artistic presentation.
