C. Shahmalarani Wins Gold in Karate 1 Series A Championship at Cyprus

C. Shahmalarani, the esteemed Malaysian Karate athlete, has once again showcased her prowess on the international stage by clinching a gold medal at the prestigious World Karate Federation (WKF) Karate 1 Series A event held in Larnaca, Cyprus. The tournament occurred from February 16th to February 18th, 2024. The national exponent’s stellar performance marked a triumphant return to the podium, solidifying her status as a formidable force in the world of Karate. Shahmalarani’s achievement not only reflects her exceptional skill and dedication but also brings pride to Malaysia on the global sports platform.

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, 25-year-old Shahmalarani secured the coveted women’s -50kg title by triumphing over the formidable Spanish competitor, Eva Rodriguez, with a scoreline of 9-5 in the finals. The electrifying showdown took place at the esteemed Kition Athletic Center, where Shahmalarani’s exceptional performance not only earned her the gold medal but also showcased her prowess in the martial arts discipline of Karate.

Before securing her latest triumph, Shahmalarani, a distinguished two-time Southeast Asian (SEA) Games champion, demonstrated her excellence by defeating Barbara Michelle Morales of Guatemala with a narrow 3-2 victory, propelling her into the finals. In the other semi-final clash, Eva Rodriguez managed to secure a tight 1-0 win against Hsin-Yu Chan of Taiwan to set the stage for the ultimate showdown.
