Thinaah Muralitharan Receives Scholarship from OUM for Academic and Badminton Excellence

Thinaah Muralitharan has established herself as a prominent badminton player in Malaysia, gaining recognition for her outstanding skills and achievements in the sport. Paired with the talented Pearly Tan, the duo has consistently represented Malaysia in various national and international badminton tournaments. Their remarkable performances have not only earned them numerous victories but have also positioned them as sources of national pride. In recognition of Thinaah’s exceptional contributions to Malaysian badminton, the Open University Malaysia (OUM) has extended a scholarship offer to support her during the final year of her Bachelor’s degree.

Thinaah Muralitharan has been pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at Open University Malaysia (OUM) since 2020, and she currently finds herself in the final year of her academic journey. Despite her rigorous academic commitments, Thinaah has remained deeply involved in her passion for badminton, refusing to let go of her sporting pursuits. Her ability to adeptly manage her time has allowed her to strike a balance between her studies and her dedication to badminton.

Throughout her academic tenure, Thinaah has consistently participated in badminton tournaments alongside her accomplished partner, Pearly Tan. Their collective efforts have not only showcased exceptional teamwork but have also resulted in numerous tournament victories, earning them recognition on both national and international platforms.

Acknowledging Thinaah’s outstanding talent, unwavering passion for badminton, and her simultaneous commitment to education, Open University Malaysia has taken this commendable initiative. The university will be offering financial support amounting to RM10,000, covering the expenses for her final year of studies.

Thinaah is set to conclude her studies in May of this year. Expressing her gratitude for the scholarship, she stated, “I am pleased to have received this scholarship. It will be instrumental in supporting me, serving as motivation to excel further in both my studies and sports.” In terms of badminton, Thinaah shared that they are currently focused on dedicated practice and preparation for upcoming tournaments, with the aim of delivering their best performance.

Thinaah Muralitharan’s journey exemplifies a remarkable balance between academic excellence and athletic prowess. It serves as an inspiring example of passion, perseverance, and well-rounded achievement.
