The concert will take place at the Shantanand Auditorium in Kuala Lumpur, commencing at 7pm on March 15th, 2024.This exquisite event will showcase the mastery of two solo artists in the classical Indian music genre. Audiences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are cordially invited to witness the harmonious collaboration between these exceptional performers, brought together by PR Events and Thrive Talent Tank (3T).
Dr. B Vijayagopal, a medical professional who transitioned from sutures to a flourishing career as a full-time musician, is renowned as a highly sought-after Carnatic flautist. His versatility extends beyond the flute, showcasing his prowess as a vocalist and exploring diverse musical genres. Alongside him, Mylai Karthikeyan, a prodigious Nadhaswaram artist at the age of 26, stands as one of the most esteemed performers of his generation. Their collaboration promises to illuminate both the shared characteristics and unique distinctions of their respective wind instruments. Mylai Karthikeyan’s soul-stirring mastery of the Nadhaswaram further enriches this exceptional musical experience, establishing him as a prominent figure in the realm of traditional Indian music.
Accompanying them, we have Vijay Natesan, a seasoned percussionist, who will showcase his mastery on the mridangam, accompanied by the talented ghatam artist Trichy S Krishnaswamy. Both musicians are highly esteemed in their field, boasting international acclaim and recognition for their exceptional talents.
PR Events, founded by Carnatic vocalist and songstress Preetha Prasad, specializes in curating multi-genre music concerts and events in Malaysia. Preetha Prasad is a renowned singer in Malaysia, having participated in numerous productions, recordings, concerts, and performances. Thrive Talent Tank, a prominent artist management and production company, is owned by Malaysia’s senior mridangam artist and pharmacist, Dr. Sivabalan Shanmuga Sundram. ‘Venunadham’ marks their inaugural concert featuring international artists to be held in Malaysia.
PR Events and Thrive Talent Tank are committed to strengthening the local Malaysian music fraternity. In line with this mission, a series of three workshops – Carnatic flute/vocal, Nathaswaram, and percussion – will be held today, on the evening of March 14, 2024, by the visiting artists. Furthermore, the concert itself will feature an opening Malaysian segment, in collaboration with iCAN (Indian Classical Artiste Network), Malaysia’s largest NGO encompassing Indian classical dance and music practitioners nationwide. PR Events and Thrive Talent Tank will also collaborate with The Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, and the Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, KL, for the workshops.
This concert aims to captivate seasoned enthusiasts of Carnatic music while also captivating newcomers to this ancient and vibrant art form. It marks the beginning of a series of international classical music concerts, signaling Malaysia’s emergence as a hub for Indian Classical arts appreciation and promotion. Through these events, Malaysia endeavors to establish itself as a center for the practice and exhibition of Indian Classical arts, fostering the exchange of knowledge and the meticulous presentation of artistic productions.
