The RYTHM Foundation, a well-known advocate for social change, has launched its latest initiative, the Maharani Learning Lab 2.0 (MLL 2.0), which aims to empower teenage girls from B40 households via education and self-determination. This ground-breaking initiative aims to provide a nurturing environment where underprivileged girls can obtain accessible digital education, self-development activities, and academic support.
In a recent social media announcement, the RYTHM Foundation expressed its enthusiasm for the launch of MLL 2.0, emphasizing its commitment to championing girl power and uplifting marginalized communities. The foundation’s chairperson, Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran, underscored the importance of challenging traditional stereotypes and recognizing the untapped potential of these young girls.
Addressing the prevalent issue of underage marriages among adolescents, Datin Sri Umayal highlighted the necessity of creating a nurturing environment where girls can enjoy their teenage years under mature parental guidance. She emphasized that education serves as the key to unlocking their minds and perspectives, laying the groundwork for a brighter future.
MLL 2.0 welcomes students who cannot afford paid tuition classes, offering additional instruction in essential subjects such as Bahasa Malaysia, English, Science, and Mathematics, thereby preparing them for the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM). Moreover, the program integrates digital application learning, including Canva, MS Office, and coding, into its curriculum, ensuring participants are equipped with relevant skills for the modern digital landscape.
Furthermore, MLL 2.0 provides support in navigating life challenges, such as public communication skills and self-development, fostering holistic growth among its participants. This comprehensive approach reflects the foundation’s dedication to addressing educational disparities and providing accessible learning opportunities for the less privileged.
Subhashini Muralidharan, a parent of an MLL participant, attested to the positive impact of the program on her daughter’s demeanor, noting improvements in optimism, enthusiasm for learning, and time management skills. She praised the holistic nature of MLL activities, which extend beyond academics to promote overall personal development.
The inception of MLL in 2015 marked the beginning of its journey to empower children through character-building programs. With a strategic shift in focus to communities near the RYTHM Foundation headquarters in the Klang Valley, MLL has expanded its reach and impact over the years.
The launch of MLL 2.0 signifies a significant step forward in addressing contemporary educational needs, integrating advanced technologies such as virtual reality, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to prepare participants for success in the digital age. Supported by the Maharani School Program (MSP), fully endorsed by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, MLL extends its impact to high school girls in several schools across Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
Since its inception, the Maharani School Program has empowered over 8,000 girls aged 13 to 16, fostering experiential learning and providing essential skills and knowledge to realize their potential. These initiatives align seamlessly with the ongoing #RiseWithRYTHM campaign, which aims to expand educational opportunities and promote equality.
In conclusion, through the Maharani Learning Lab 2.0 and the Maharani School Program, the RYTHM Foundation reaffirms its commitment to empowering teenage girls from B40 families, underscoring the pivotal role of education as a catalyst for positive change in society. As these initiatives continue to evolve and expand, they stand as beacons of hope, illuminating pathways to a brighter and more inclusive future for all.
