Lokesh Kanagaraj recently collaborated with Shruti Haasan for a romantic music video named “Inimel,” where Shruti Haasan served as both composer and conceptualizer. Released on March 25, 2024, the music video has garnered widespread attention and is rapidly gaining viral status. In a surprising turn, the esteemed director took on the role of an actor in this song, charming audiences with his performance. Additionally, Lokesh utilized the opportunity of the music video launch press meet to share several updates regarding his forthcoming projects.
Lokesh stated, “He is committed to directing films entirely, with acting being only occasional. His participation in ‘Inimel’ was solely due to its minimal three-day shoot requirement. At present, he is engaged in the direction of three other films.” He also gave an official update on the much anticipated “Thalaivar 171”. Lokesh is set to direct Superstar Rajinikanth for his next film and it is tentatively titled as “Thalaivar 171”.
Lokesh has revealed that the pre-production phase for “Thalaivar 171” will span three to five months. He further announced that the filming of the movie is scheduled to commence in June. This will also provide Rajinikanth with a brief respite following the conclusion of his ongoing project “Vettaiyan” with director TJ Gnanavel. Anirudh Ravichander has been enlisted to compose the music for “Thalaivar 171”, while the adrenaline-pumping action sequences will be helmed by stunt director Anbariv. However, the remaining cast and crew members have yet to be confirmed, and an official announcement, along with an intriguing teaser, is anticipated prior to the commencement of filming.
After wrapping up “Thalaivar 171”, Lokesh Kanagaraj will embark on the production of “Kaithi 2” just a month later. With multiple film commitments already in his schedule, the coming year promises to be a bustling one for the accomplished director.
