The vibrant and rich tapestry of Tamizh, one of the world’s oldest languages, will come to life in a spectacular thematic musical concert titled “Tamizhisai Saaral.” This enchanting event is set to take place on the 7th of April 2024, at the Civic Centre Petaling Jaya. Presented by the Sugam Culture & Heritage Foundation, “Tamizhisai Saaral” assures a distinctive and memorable experience. It will spotlight the creations of renowned composers, celebrating the essence and allure of Tamizh across various musical genres.
“Tamizhisai Saaral” will showcase an extraordinary ensemble of 52 talented students, all deeply committed to highlighting the linguistic and musical heritage of Tamizh. Under the expert mentorship of Dr. Devie Nethiyar, a renowned music educator and Chief Executive Director of Dr. TVG’s Academy of Indian Music and Arts (AIMA) in Tamil Nadu, these students have received comprehensive training to deliver a captivating performance that embodies the richness and variety of Tamizh compositions.
Enhancing the already captivating musical extravaganza, Laasya Arts will bring a visual spectacle to the stage. Through a blend of traditional and contemporary dance forms, they will add an additional layer of cultural richness and vibrancy to the event. Their performance promises to captivate the audience, providing a holistic and immersive experience that celebrates the beauty and diversity of artistic expression.
In the upcoming event, “Tamizhisai Saaral”, a notable aspect will be the inclusion of 31 proud parents of the participating students. The Foundation, operating through its implementing arms—the Sugam Karnatica Arts Academy and Sugam Samskhaaraa Vedic School—currently interacts with 1000 families each year. It conducts classes in 90 classrooms on a weekly basis, employs 27 arts educators, and offers substantial scholarships to disadvantaged students.
