The Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple, situated in Cheras Cochrane along Jalan Nakhoda Yusof 1, stands as a revered landmark in the local community. The temple’s esteemed head, M. Arull Ananthan, announced an auspicious event set to grace its sacred grounds: the Maha Kumbabishegam, scheduled to take place on May 13th, 2024, promises to be a grand affair.
The Maha Kumbabishegam is a significant ceremony in the Hindu tradition, symbolizing the consecration and rejuvenation of the temple’s divine energies. As such, it holds profound importance for devotees, who eagerly anticipate the occasion as a time of spiritual renewal and collective celebration. Originally, the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple was situated next to Cochrane School. However, as part of the urban development plan spearheaded by the local authorities, the temple underwent relocation to its current address on Jalan Nakhoda Yusof 1. The new location of the temple places it in close proximity to the PPR Perkasa housing area, serving as a focal point of spiritual solace and cultural heritage for residents in the vicinity.
The construction of the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple, a project involving several hundred thousand ringgit, is swiftly approaching its conclusion. However, as the temple nears completion, the head of the temple has expressed a pressing need for an additional RM100, 000 to facilitate essential renovation work.
It is anticipated that over a thousand devotees will partake in the Maha Kumbabishegam ceremony of the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple. Additionally, with its grand scale and revered status, the temple is poised to serve as a mother temple in the area. The esteemed Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, along with his secretary, YB Suresh Singh, will be extended invitations to grace the event as chief guests.
Therefore, the temple’s head earnestly appeals to the public for their generous contributions to ensure that the Maha Kumbabishegam is conducted in a dignified manner befitting its sacred significance. Individuals who wish to support this noble cause are encouraged to make donations by transferring funds to the temple’s bank account, the details of which are provided below.
