The production of Vijay’s highly anticipated film “GOAT” is advancing as per the schedule outlined by the filmmakers, with the final shooting phase set to begin shortly. Additionally, recent reports suggest that “GOAT” could potentially hit theaters as early as August. Meanwhile, Dhananjayan, closely linked with the production team behind Suriya’s “Kanguva,” has confirmed that the historical drama will require an additional five months before a release date can be finalized.
Consequently, the revelation has sparked widespread speculation among fans, who now anticipate a potential showdown between “Kanguva” and “GOAT” at the box office. Should this scenario materialize, it promises to be an epic clash, given the substantial budgets allocated to both films and the fact that Vijay and Suriya, two titans of the South Indian film industry, would be going head-to-head after a hiatus of 13 years.
In the past, Vijay and Suriya found themselves in a box office showdown during the auspicious occasion of Deepavali in 2011. Their films, “Velayudham” and “7aam Arivu,” were both released on the same day, marking a significant clash between the two prominent actors.
Despite multiple announcements of a box office clash between the two stars in subsequent years, it never materialized as one or the other film opted to avoid direct competition. Therefore, the anticipated clash between two friends promises to be an exhilarating journey for fans. The question remains: will we witness the much-awaited showdown between Suriya and Vijay after 13 years, or will circumstances lead to yet another postponement? Fans will have to wait anxiously to find out.
Under the direction of Venkat Prabhu, “GOAT” explores the intriguing concept of time travel, with Vijay portraying a character of dual nature. Meanwhile, “Kanguva,” helmed by Siruthai Siva, delves into a period drama set five centuries in the past, with lead actor Suriya also embodying a dual role within the narrative.
