The air quality in Klang, Selangor, has reached unsafe levels this morning and appears to be getting worse by the hour.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the air quality in Klang and Banting was 142 and 163, respectively, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (April 9). In Banting, the API was 163, while at Klang, it was 139.
The air pollution index (API) in Banting, Selangor, has stayed at an unsafe level for three days.
The air quality in Klang hit an unsafe level around 2 a.m., while Banting has been experiencing that level since Sunday. The following locations have high values that are on the verge of becoming unhealthy: Cheras (96), Nilai (96), and Balok Baru, Kuantan (97).
Readings of 101 to 200 are considered unhealthy, while readings of 201 to 300 are regarded extremely unhealthy.
These are the only two sites in the country with dangerous API readings right now.
API ratings ranging from 0 to 50 are considered good, while 51 to 100 are classified as moderate. Any reading of 300 or higher on the air quality scale is considered dangerous.
