“We are born of love; love is our mother.” —Rumi

Mother’s Day is that special time of year when you get to celebrate your first best friend.  She is the person you always turn to when you need advice for literally everything under the sun.  Mother’s Day is also a great time to show your love for all the other wonderful women in your life.

Motherhood is never an easy task, what more if they are single mothers. Caring Moms was started in April 2016 by two individuals; with the aim to create an ecosystem for women to develop and grow their entrepreneurial skills.

At the recent annual Women Economic Forum which was held in New Delhi, India, Malaysian retired Major, Shera Ann Bosco was conferred the Exceptional Women of Excellence Award for her outstanding work with CARING MOMS.

CARING MOMS was founded by Maj (Rtd) Shera Ann Bosco in 2016, who together with co-founder Umesh Narasimhaiah focused on supporting women entrepreneurs especially stay-at-home mothers who are running home-based businesses.

Very quickly, their online retail platform garnered well over 71,000 members and have since conducted numerous successful bazaars that have attracted close to 450k visitors.

“It’s been three years. We are sustaining. The community has been supportive. The support to the community by everyone is amazing. The family that now exists is mind blowing. We have evolved from being just a Facebook group to a Community Organisation, a family,” says Major Shera.

Major Sheera said that she did not really know the impact of the movement she has created until fellow members would message her; thanking Caring Moms for helping them out with their problems.

In recognition of the impact CARING MOMS has generated, the international Women Economic Forum (WEF) invited Major Shera to speak at the annual Women Economic Forum 2019 in New Delhi where she was presented with the Award of Exceptional Women of Excellence for her impactful work with CARING MOMS.

‘CARING MOMS aims to create 50,000 job opportunities for women by 2021’

The annual WEF 2019 has attracted over 2000 women and men from 120 countries and was held from 11 to 16 April. The theme this year was “Reimagining Societies: Reclaiming Humanity With Gender Equality.

This is an important story. And I’ll tell you why!

For aeons, women have been thought to pit against each other. We have been reminded constantly about our insecurities. ” Two women can never be friends!”, is a saying I have heard for the longest time. But I want all the women who are reading this article to know that, this is a clear example that goes against to all those sexist statements. So many women came together and supported each other through highs and lows. The impact from a positive group is beyond explainable.

To all the single mothers out there, never feel that you are alone; you can reach out to Caring Moms. You can contact them at hello@caringmoms.my or visit their website, https://caringmoms.my/ for more details.

Caring Moms is not just a platform for single mothers, but it is also a platform for all women who are looking to enhance their financial and economic independence to help their families.
