St. Joseph’s Institute’s students emerged victorious in the highly anticipated Sorkalam 2024 Competition, held at the prestigious Mediacorp Headquarters on April 14th. The news of their triumph sparked waves of excitement and pride among students, faculty, and supporters alike. Along with the prestigious title, the champions were awarded a $2000 cash prize and a trophy, adding to their well-deserved recognition.

The finals of the competition saw St. Joseph pitted against Cedar Girls Secondary School in a riveting debate on the topic, “Is fast-paced lifestyle the reason for the decline in Singapore’s birth rate?” While Cedar Girls defended the statement, St. Joseph took the opposing stance with compelling arguments.

Out of the 29 secondary schools that participated in this year’s Sorkalam Competition, St. Joseph’s students stood out with their eloquence, critical thinking, and well-researched points. Their victory not only reflects their dedication and hard work but also highlights the school’s commitment to nurturing intellectual prowess and fostering debate skills among its students.
