Kamal Haasan was last seen on screen in Vishwaroopam 2 and since then had been occupied with the election campaigning and political activities related to his party Makkal Needhi Maiam, and only recently had shot for the promo of third season of Bigg Boss.
Indian 2 directed by Shankar, which happens to be the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian was launched in January.
The first look posters got viral; making fans of the actor and the film very excited.
However the shoot was getting delayed and there were rumours of producers Lyca backing out of the project.
Director Shankar has reportedly convinced Lyca Productions, and the movie is set to begin shooting from June end, and is targeting a Pongal 2021 release.
An official announcement is expected soon. Indian 2 also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Delhi Ganesh.
