The deadline for non-business taxpayers to electronically file their Tax Return Form for the Year of Assessment 2023 has been extended by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) from April 30 to May 15.
The taxpayers are made up of resident individuals (knowledge workers, expert workers, and non-citizen workers holding critical positions), according to a statement released on Thursday, April 26.
According to the statement, the extension also covers non-resident people (knowledge workers), organizations, the estate of a deceased person, and Hindu mixed families.
The IRB reports that the deadline for filing tax returns online for the Year of Assessment 2023 has been moved from March 31 to May 30, with respect to both the Employer (company and Labuan company) and Non-Company/Non-Labuan Company Employer categories.
It encouraged taxpayers to avoid penalties for late form submission and increases for late payment by submitting the tax return form and paying their income tax within the allotted time.
It stated, “In order to facilitate the tax refund process, taxpayers are also advised to accurately key in and update their personal and banking information.”
