Thillaimuthu Nagarajan, commonly known as RJ Nagarajan, a Malaysian mountaineer, has been officially recognized and acknowledged for his outstanding achievements in mountaineering.
Nagarajan achieved his goal of climbing the highest summits on each of the seven continents, making history as the first Malaysian to complete the 7 Summits Plus 2 Challenge.
He was formally recognized for his achievement last Monday by the Malaysia Book of Records. Climbing the tallest peaks on each of the seven continents is the difficult 7 Summits Plus 2 Challenge. Beyond the traditional Seven Summit challenge, Nagarajan’s victory went threefold as he took on the Bass List, Messner List, and Hackett List.
Starting from the renowned Mount Everest in Nepal, he traversed continents to scale Mt. Denali in Alaska, Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, Mt. Vinson in Antarctica, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mt. Elbrus and Mt. Blanc in Europe, and the challenging Mts. Cartenz in Indonesia and Kosciuszko in Australia.
“I am honored to have had the chance to embark on this challenging journey, and I hope my accomplishment inspires others to pursue their dreams fearlessly,” Nagarajan remarked after giving his success some thought. From modest beginnings, he forged a prosperous professional career and attained the position of chief executive officer at a global corporation based in Singapore. After leaving the corporate world, Nagarajan started a consultancy company specializing in strategy and leadership development.
Apart from his career endeavors, he is a committed advocate for mental health programs and assists individuals who require it. Mohd Khafiz Bachok, the founder of the local mountaineering company ZeroTo8000, claims that Nagarajan’s incredible ascent of the peaks demonstrated his unmatched devotion and passion for the sport and set a new bar for climbers worldwide.
According to Khafiz, the extraordinary accomplishment was a financial example of Nagarajan’s unwavering resolve and devotion to his vocation in addition to being a physical victory. In addition, he stated that he has fully funded all of his trips, a pledge that he will keep making for all of his upcoming endeavors, including his intended trips to the North and South Poles.
Nagarajan’s achievement and pursuit of excellence in the face of severe challenges illustrate the ‘Semangat Berdikari’ tagline that Zeroto8000 stands for. Nagarajan’s achievement resonates as an inspiring story of resilience, determination, and the pursuit of excellence and adds a new chapter to Malaysia’s mountaineering legacy.
