Malaysia’s Thivya Chandran and Arulini Ashwiinaa Arumugam have been selected to participate in the Mega Auditions of SAREGAMAPA Season 4 in Chennai. The two amazing budding talents had fiercely and dedicatedly competed in the Kuala Lumpur Auditions among more than 100 people and had rightfully won their spots to compete in this prestigious and globally esteemed competition.
Thivya Chandran
Thivya Chandran, the 23-year-old Kuala Lumpur native, expressed her outmost joy and gratitude for having been selected to participate in this incredible opportunity. Thivya, because of her extraordinary talent and vigour in performance, had been chosen to proceed to the competition’s next level. Speaking on competing in the Chennai auditions, Thivya expressed that although it will be challenging for her to battle against the talents of Tamil Nadu, she is ever grateful and excited for this wonderful opportunity to sharpen her performance.
“The only thing I had never given up on was my love for singing. I’ve identified myself as a singer since I was 8 years old.”
Thivya, who had been the 2nd Runner Up of Astro’s Big Stage Tamil Season 2, had previously lent her voice to the song Kanevilaiye, which was composed by the incredibly esteemed and beloved Malaysian music composer Dhilip Varman. The young star spoke of how she had identified as a singer since the age of 8, and the art of it was something that she could never easily give up upon. Singing was as much a part of her soul as her heart. Thivya hopes that in the future she gets to become an established and award-winning playback singer who gets to perform a variety of songs.
Arulini Ashwiinaa Arumugam
As for 22-year-old Johor native Arulini Ashwiinaa Arumugam, winning a spot to compete in the Chennai-based competition was truly unexpected. She had initially learned of the KL auditions through a post shared by her friends and siblings. The young artists had only wanted to give the audition a try without any expectations, but through her sheer talent and expertise, she had gained herself a spot in the Mega Auditions. The young artist expressed her outmost gratitude and happiness towards having been blessed with this opportunity to be able to perform on such an international and renowned platform.
“I would love to spread positive vibes and awareness, that no matter what background a person is from, if we put our willpower and soul into it, everything we do will be successful.”
Arulini had previously been the champion of Astro’s Big Stage Tamil Season One, and along with that, the artistic young singer had also sung professionally for the Malaysian Tamil film Vinveli Devathai in the song Rowdy Neethane. As she is an autistic individual, the young talent stated that through her passion for performing, she aims to contribute towards the social upliftment of the autistic community. Arulini conveyed how she had been autistic since her childhood and that music had been an incredibly healing factor for the young girl. The rising star hopes that, just as music had rejuvenated her spirits, she can spread the same ray of hope and strength to the autistic community. In the future, Arulini hopes that through her profession she will not only be able to make a positive impact on the autistic community but also be a beacon of light for all individuals.
