Everyone’s favourite movie to poke fun at, Karakattakaran, is set to have its sequel made soon. The 1989 movie starring Ramarajan and Kanaka shot to fame after a YouTube clip of a fight scene went viral due to its laughable absurdity.
Gangai Amaran is set to direct the film. The director-composer says that he is keen on bringing the entire original cast on board for the sequel. “The film will focus on what happened to the lead couple, Goundamani, Senthil, all of their kids and the status of their families,” he says in an interview.
Karakattakaran celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. After its release, the film soon became a cult classic, running in Indian theatres for a goof 425 days. Illayaraaja’s music and the Goundamani-Senthil comedy combo were reportedly the secret of the film’s success.
